Howdy, everyone. I've long been interested in hearing about how the DevOps and SRE teams at other companies work, and Hacker News seems like a great place to ask this. I joined a DevOps team for the first time not too long ago after doing several years of systems administration/engineering, and while I love the culture and idea of it, I'm not entirely sure if we're doing it "right."
How does your team handle incoming work? What kind of methodology does your team subscribe to? How much time do y'all spend on learning new things vs. fixing fires? What does a typical day look like for you? Lastly, where do you think your team fits in the overall strategy of the company?
Thanks in advance for your submissions! I really appreciate everyone's insights.
